I would like to thank my horse!

Just had a lovely 5 mile hack through bluebell strewn lanes, forestry and hillsides on my wonderful horse Blue. Worked his plump bottom off, as he needs to drop a few LBs. Something has just clicked in the last couple of weeks, and he really has given me the confidence I now appear to have (ehem- most of the time!). Today we met the three demon collies of the local woods. They went for him bald headed. I jumped down and sent them off with my schooling whip and re-mounted. We then went on and had a lovely canter. I bought him last year as a 4 year old... dumb but true considering my lack of experience with young ridden horses, wobbly nerves and twenty year absence from riding. It was the best decision (OH aside) of my life. When I think of taking him straight out hacking from day one knowing he had never done it before. He spooked, worried but never stopped looking after me. He's coming along with me, raising his game as I become more comfortable. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going to put up a jump this weekend and have a go. Barrels, tyres and planks at the ready from this afternoon. I'm not focused on falling. I'm not focused on anything. We are as one. It's happened.

Amazing stuff Kanga - and all down to the partnership the two of you have got going on. Day after day, whatever the setbacks, you still went out there and "did your thing". And look at where it has got you! So chuffed for you I really really am. And shows that if you consider your horse and work through things from their perspective as well as your own, it truly does come right in the end. You should be soooooo proud of yourself and your fabby boy. xx
