It was my last chance really before moving house next week and we did it!! I am so chuffed! after the dry mouth syndrome... needing a last minute wee...etc...etc... we just plodded round the farm where we are based and Julie who I was with was great; made me stay on when he was having a bit of a tantrum, just as we left the yard and passed the track where we turn them out - I said "He's scaring me, I'll have to get off...." and she said "he just thinks he's going to the field he'll be ok...." and guess what? He was! Julie kept stopping if her horse got in front a bit... and she talked to me all the way round - to make me reply and hence, breathe! lol so I am really pleased as there was enough factors to make excuses not go: the turnout was restricted this weekend so he's been in since friday night and it was a bit breezy too AND we had to do a bit of a circle at the top of the lane and come back the same way and I was thinking "He's gonna leg it home...." but he was ambling along, taking it all it... and we were both just relaxing nicely as we got 200 yards from home! he was nodding off as he was eating hay when I left... I reckon he'll be flat out by now, having a siesta!

How fantastic is that! Well done you for conquering another demon, and sounds like your hacking buddy was a good one too. You should be soooo proud of yourselves, you really should. And hey, lots of lovely hacking to look forward to in Somerset as well. So you've set yourself up really nicely for when you get moved. Way to go Emined and Eddie x

Thats brill, it is so nice to have a friend with you just to reassure you when you get twitchy. Well done for trusting her as well. Sometimes when you are sat on a horse if you are really nervous, you cant see beyond your fears, and the other person watching will say 'but everything is fine, horse is relaxed' etc. And to be able to take it on board and believe it, is very hard. (does that make sense?) So well done and I hope you go out again soon. BTW - how many excuses did you make before going Not as many as I could have - I bet. ;D ;D

thanks peeps, it always means a lot to get support from you guys ;D even that strange alien one! not sure what it says, but I'm sure they mean well - lol sad thing is though, we are moving to Somerset tomorrow and leaving all my friends behind so I will have to 'own up' to new people about lack of confidence etc.... but I must say all the DGers on here from Somerset have been extremely nice and helpful with stuff, so I'm hoping the rest of the people will be as nice when we get there. My instructor said to just stick to the same routine when we get there and it will help eddie to settle, which I hope works as he was a right handful when we moved to our current yard! anyway we will have to unplug for now - so I'll see you soon, in new pastures ;D take care everyone x

I have PM'd the Mods about that post Emined, as it appeared on a different topic in Horse Anon's the other day. May or may not be a virus, don't know.
You're not leaving us behind, you're off on your adventures to meet new friends you didnt know you had. Friends are friends wherever in the county, country, continent or world you live in xx

Well done you ! Try and take some of the confidence you gained with you and do tell the others at your new yard. There's bound to be at least one person there who will be happy to help out. And you know you can always come on here for some comfort and reassurance.
Good luck with the move and a big pat on the back for both you and your horse. Well done !
