After my tiny "mini hack" just over a week ago I had not been riding because of personal upsets, nothing to do with the horses. And was becoming a real nervous ninny again.
Thankfully the lovely Louise C came to our rescue! Not only with the biggest hug ever when we met up on Thursday, but for her amazing friendship, support and being such all round genuine lovely person. Louise rode Bobby both Thursday and Friday for me, with me being a foot solder - and Bobby didn't put a foot wrong! Because he had got a proper rider on him... I did sit on him in the school yesterday.
ANYWAY, today my target was to ride to the local reservoir and back all on our own, no other horses, no foot soldiers, nothing. I had seen him do it the last two days with Louise, so now it was my turn.
And we did it!!!!!!! I nearly scared the living daylights out of Bobby when we went under some low branches when I stupidly managed to really clobber my hat on a branch. He took one pace forward and then was fine. He had an eyes on stalks, what on earth is that, will it eat me moment at a couple of fisherman's tents so I waited until he was calm and then continued on. We had somebody riding the opposite way on a horse, and he was fine. Got a bit silly watching two people walking towards us (scarey that) but with a bit of leg yielding etc settled again. And that was us.
I focused a LOT on my breathing and I could feel how relaxed he was when I got it right. So we bimbled along in the sunshine, kept a bit cooler by the breeze, listened to the birds singing etc and just had a lovely time. I love my big horse!
Was very chuffed that he was so good whilst out on his own, I really was.
And Louise, we couldn't have done it without you hun xx
PS - Was breezier today than yesterday too!!! I wouldn't ride yesterday, decided it was too windy and Bobby would be jumpy. He was nothing of the sort bless him.
