Oh no iceberg so sorry to hear you are feeling so down, I can almost feel your hurt just reading your post. I can't add anymore to what kanga has put so well, there really is no time limit hon you need to take as long as you need. Can no-one help you out? Perhaps ride blue for a bit, sometimes it can help seeing someone else as you then think "I can do that too". Best wishes, it's a v hard decision to sell a horse (((((((hug)))))))

Thankyou guys. Yes I am selling Blue, I know its for the best, but actually only 2 people have come to see him so far, and he wasnt what they wanted. Waiting for a lady to contact me again this weekend, she rang last week and sounded interested, but hasnt got back to me yet . Oh well!. I actually dont know how I feel at the moment about riding, perhaps I dont really want to? I look at my photos of riding Toby and think how nice it was etc, Ive got ones of me jumping, schooling, messing about bareback, and I love to look at them. However I cant see myself doing these things on another horse . On the first of june it will be a year since he was stolen, and it hasnt got any easier, I cry when I think of it. I suppose if I was really really bothered I would have made an effort to book some lessons, instead of 'wishing' time away But I really do love to read of all of you having a nice time with your horses, and of all your achievements. Believe it or not, at one point I was the one who helped my friends regain their confidence, one in particular used to have severe panic attacks and it used to trigger her asthma. Sometimes in the school, sometimes out on hacks. I helped my other friend overcome a fear of cantering, after she was taken off with, now she blasts across fields without a care. ;D Im getting better when I watch other people ride Blue, I used to feel sick with worry in case my friend got hurt. But he has never show any sign of rearing again, and he was obviously in pain at that time. My friends love riding him, M says she would buy him right now (shes already got 2, so cant) H borrows him to go out on hacks to give her mare a break (she is 25). So its nice to see him ridden, but I get on him and I literally cant move Both M and H are a lot younger than me perhaps this is a factor? They havent got children, so have more free time (evenings ) but we are rarely all there together, which is good for the horses as they are checked on practically 4 times a day, but it means they are rarely there to babysit me I confess my heart has gone out of riding etc, I rarely spend more time at the yard than is necessary, before John used to ring and say 'where are you? what time are you coming home' now it 'oh you werent long'. Sorry to go on and on. But you really dont need to think about me, I want to hear of your achievements and how you are getting on. It makes my day when Kanga or Wozzer or anyone else for that matter does something that they were nervous / scared of and overcomes a fear. So well done all of you and carry on (you brave things you)

Oh Noooooooo.......... iceberg, how sad - I was going to say think long and hard before you sell him; but obviously you have. I didn't know your Toby had been stolen, no wonder you feel sad, you are probably still grieving for him but maybe Blue just isn't the horse for you? Maybe another horse that was more of a confidence giver would help restore the fun you've had whilst riding in the past - maybe there's no need to stop being horsey all together and erm.... yes - we do need to think about you! We are all in this together, now!

you have a lovely seat on that horse. Surely you can stay involved without riding if you want to? There are so many other things to do. Have you considered driving for example?

Driving, no way I saw a girl at my old yard roll her cart down a steep hill, mind you she was a loony, poor shetland rolled over and over, but he was unhurt, just shaken. I would feel even more unsafe I think. Wasnt really a good advert for driving, anyway there would be only fast roads around me here, I wouldnt want to risk the horse. Me and Toby were just suited, few people liked riding him, he was strong, and wide, sometimes no brakes, sometimes you couldnt even steer him but with the schooling we did, he became much better, as in the photo, but we couldnt keep it up for long, he would get bored and head off up the school. I used to spend more time laughing at him, but he was never nasty, just opinionated. We used to have a discussion, I could never tell him what to do However with my little girl he was always very ploddy and gentle.

I really can't believe ppl would be so F*****g cruel & steal horses. No much wonder you feel so down as you must miss him terribly, I hope that you will eventually get some news Maybe in time when you have had a break from the horsey side of life you might start craving it again, in the meantime take care of yourself & keep posting on here!!

Iceberg you should DEFINITELY re-circulate Toby's details again. After the time which has passed, you never know, somebody might recognise him as a new'ish horse on their yard. As the bar stewards who stole him might have sold him on by now.
So hope you get your lovely lad back, he looks and sounds like a real treasure x

Im sorry Wozzer I seem to have hijacked your thread a big bit.xx
Casper I will circulate his details again, Im sure someone has already bought him, but the fact he was lame with arthritis worries me, he could only just walk the day before they took him, vet was due out to see him. im so worried in case they sent him to 'that place' (I cant type it.)
Am having posters done and a friend is off to Appleby again this year (her coloured mare was also stolen that night).

Hi Iceberg, I feel desperate for you. What a terrible thing to go through. Toby looks gorgeous and the piccies are lovely. I wanted to write something really constructive to you but words have failed me. Sending love and hugs and hope. xxxx

Thankyou everyone, I am wondering if General Horse talk is the place to put him on or really should he go on stolen section?

Iceberg I would put something on General Horse section for sure, as unfortunately not many people go on the Stolen Section. With Appleby etc coming up it will be well worth it. Also circulate to other forums if you go on them.
And about your concern about Toby being sent to the "other place" I have to say that I doubt that very much. They would be more likely to have left him in a field somewhere than have done that. My instinct on this is that he has been sold on. Somebody somewhere will recognise him I am sure. xx
