Was supposed to hack out with Nikki at 4pm, but our plans changed so we didn't go out until 7pm (isn't it nice to be able to ride in the evenings!). Anyway, going along a stony track I had to leap off Lincoln as he was suddenly lame and, yep, there was a huge stone wedged in his off fore. Managed to get it out easy enough, but then, how do you get back on Fortunately there was a grassy bank nearby, and I nearly managed, but then my saddle slipped - felt such a fool Anyway, sorted myself out and went on our way. But here's the big news. This is the second time this weekend that I have actually looked forward to riding. None of the wibbles, none of the what ifs, actually thought - great, I'm riding later. Thanks you lot

That's great Wozzer. Sometimes it's hard to get past the fear to even remembering how downright enjoyable riding is. Delighted you went out again and coped with the hiccups. My round horse is difficult to mount from the ground, so I got a wide Stubben girth to stop slippage. Works a treat.

Hi wozzer, well done you - and I know exactly what you mean. One of the reasons I'm so pleased with my hunter trial is that I wasn't a nervous mess, I didn't waste the week prior p00ing my pants about it, I looked forward to it - isn't that what we're supposed to do?? It's fantastic and a sign you've really moved on. Just make sure you ride loads and it will increase I think - I think it's not riding (because in my case, it's definitely not jumping) that makes you get nervy about it for no good, rational reason. Dead pleased for you, here's to your next hack!
Oh and don't worry about the saddle slipping etc., there are some shaped horses that aaalways do that, hee hee luckily mine is no such horse and I can get on him from the ground no bother, and I chuckle away at those it happens to. It's no reflection on them as riders so don't worry about it!

Im glad you banished the wibbles, well done ;D I went for a hack a couple of years ago, on Toby, no withers, very round, and I always had to use a block to get on him, or the saddle slipped. Anyway, very long gentle hack for a couple of hours, needed a wiz halfway round , I was with my friend and she says a bit further on there are some trees you can hide behind, and some big rocks to stand on to get back on. So we get to the place I hide behind the trees, Toby stands still waiting, (like a statue). I clamber onto this huge rock, go to put foot in stirrup, and he sidesteps so he facing me! Again and again, I swear he was laughing at me this went on for ages, my friend nearly wet herself laughing! Eventually, she had to get off her 16.3 thoroughbred and help my onto my fat hairy 14.3 cob She then proceeded to leap back onto her horse , so you most definately not the only one. I dread having to get off, cos I cant get on from the floor

For amarche and angblue, plus anyone else who's readingRight girls, as requested it's your turn this week to enjoy riding your horses. In order to do this I have despatched :- 2 x shed loads of "ooh I can't wait to ride later" feelings, and they are currently being sent up the cyber connections to you both. Can you feel it Is it there yet I wonder if you could try saying it to yourself as a mantra, to see if it works ;D (PS: Blimey just read this back and I sound a bit mental ;D ).
