I have had rotten confidence issues for the past few years, to the degree that my wonderful 16.3hh good as gold tb went back to his breeder to be with her forever.
I live in the New Forest which although very little traffic, has scarey ponies, cattle, pigs etc all over the place. I stopped riding for about 18 months, which to be honest was a huge relief. However in the last few months I have been going to the local riding school (haven't been to a riding school for about 25 years!!) We are friendly with the owners and I have been having no pressure private lessons, which I am really enjoying and on the upside get to ride some really nice horses.
I feel nearly ready to get my own horse again, the trouble is my oh's horse is sharp as a knife and although he absolutely adores her admits she can be difficult, so I will be looking for a ned who won't react to oh's mare's naughty behaviour. This was the trouble with my last boy, he used to get really upset and wound up by her.
I think anything between 14hh - 15.3hh would be ideal, although if smaller would have to have some bone. I would offer a home for life, our horses live at home with us, references etc would be fine, I know I am asking for a saint, but if anyone knows of a horse needing a new loving home, age, looks, sex immaterial, any plod would be wonderful! I know this is a very long shot but I thought this might be a great place to start.
I look on Safecobs.com but don't think a dealer is for me, for my confidence I would prefer to know the horses history and not just the last few weeks it has been in England.
Anyhow, thanks for reading this long and boring thread!
