We bought ourselves a trailer on sat, an immaculate 3yo Ifor Williams 510 it's gorgeous & I love it!
So on sunday we thought right lets take the horses to our local country estate for a stroll in hand. Cue nerves as we hadn't boxed them anywhere ever except the journey home when we bought them, for blue it's been 2yrs & brandy 1yr!
However I said to OH right there's no hurry, if it doesn't happen tonight we have all the time in the world to practice. Got neds to house groomed, bandaged up tails etc then went for it........Brandy first she looks & stands at bottom of ramp for a sec then pootles up & in yay success! Then Blue he did the same & looked at me saying "is this ok mum?" to which I said "follow me" (thats my words for telling him he's ok) & up he went no probs at all ;D ;D
15min drive later we're there, they offload nicely & we had a lovely walk although did get some strange looks from ppl as we were walking rather large dogs LOL! The neds were fine blue had a little jog now & again but they were relaxed & seemed to enjoy it v much. Loaded again & had a good journey home, they both travelled quietly & didn't seemed stressed in the slightest
I'm so pleased & it's upped my confidence with blue as he trusted me enough to get in the box & he didn't freak out at a totally new place ;D So this week we're going to take them to the beach inhand again & let them see what it's all about.
Then after doing this for a wee while we'll move onto riding them, even though I'm nervous about riding in new places I can't wait either ;D ;D
Here's a few pics
Headless horse LOL!
