Update.
Right - I have at least fulfilled number one on my to do list above. The very fact that I posted it on here earlier this week kept it in my mind that I must do it!! Having written down at least some points it then does give some focus on these.
I will reread this list before I ride next - maybe it will assist me in a more conscious thought process to help improve these issues.

Another Update.
Got to say this works. Simple things. So easy to get into a routine of just riding horse without concentrating on my riding and what I want him to do. Somehow I sometimes expect the horse to read my thoughts.
Anyhoo, made my list and read it. Went to ride - concentrated on upright position which led me to think more about the contact. Had a better ride - horse was more relaxed and mouthing the bit. Had I not made that list, I might not have concentrated and would not have had the same results. Success on this occasion.

ok, thought i might give this a go, trying everything else so here goes, 1. get Todi's shoes off, as i have now found a barefoot trimmer hopefully this will be tomorrow (wed 4th) 2. carry on doing the tasks in Kelly's book (daily) 3. get better at backing up 4. doing the 'L for leather' (in Kelly's book) 5. take Tod out in hand (this is a major thing, as last time he reared at me ) and that is all for now, there is a lot more, but i'm trying to break this down into smaller steps, then i might just achieve them. he is much more chilled now, but that is in the garden, not outside karen and co
