For Wozzer, my 2 year old, my plans include:
to practice pressure/release and do more work on a regular basis in my sand school
to practice my long lining on Lincoln, so that I am ready when Wozzer is, to teach him to long line
to be very consistent, black & white with him, and a more effective leader ;D

catg, can I just ask were you on the TV in Horsetails? You look awful like the girl in an episode to do with western riding! If it was you I was quite envious of your skill at western, made it look easy

Hi Cat, I'm in Norfolk so I think it would be a bit far for me to come for my first show! I haven't done enough riding mainly because of work and the weather. We are away next week so I hope the weather the week before the show is good. The show is at Brandon, I went and had a look last year and they seem very friendly so I am hoping they will tell me what I've got to do. David's DVD has been very helpful! Thanks for the interest and hope you have a great show.
Hints on join-up = don't do it unless you need to.

Angblue - nope, I don't think I was on Horsetails as far as I know - lol - I wonder who that was? I always miss these things on tv! Too busy watching The Apprentice, which I love - ooh - and Dragon's Den. But my skills at the moment are sorely lacking, as my husband gets to play with horses all day and I have to run the business, kids, housework. My horse has finally lost enough weight to stop him from looking pregnant but has now taken the skin off his neck in the form of two big sores because he got stressy about something and sandpapered himself on his stable door. (He's the one in my Avatar - King).
Misty - good luck with your show. Which classes are you doing? I am sure they will all be very friendly and don't be afraid to ask. Glad the DVD has helped. We're filming the next one in about 4 weeks - eeeek!

Hi Cat, I had a great lesson last night and took her for a hack this morning so we are getting on. She doesn't seem to know much about riding out. I'm having another lesson on Saturday and hopefully a couple over Easter THEN my self and trainer will decide what I should do. I don't mind what I do I just want to have a go at something!

Sounds like it's going really well Misty. What horse do you have and who's your trainer?

We bought Aribis Runners Jade (I think that's how you spell it, her stuff is over the office) for o/h just before Christmas. She is a 12yo quarterhorse and I'm sure somewhere you have posted that you think you and David know her. Apparently she was broken by Lee and is a tough little cookie. O/h doesn't like schooling and when she said "NO" he couldn't change her mind! So I've got her. Krista Skelta comes to me and my little school as because of how we have to work time isn't easy. Krista has worked with Lee. O/h now hacks out on Rosie the young Arab but guess who has to school her? I still have a problem loping her (as in haven't since she bucked me!) So I have a lesson on Jade and then try it on Rosie. Thanks for the interest as there are lots of riders round my way, all English, but they are sooo impressed when I need to go backwards and how quickly I can stop without pulling on the reins!

I think my immediate goal is to get JJ seen by Dr Dave Siemens, the chiropractor, on Sunday. THis might not sound much BUT it involves getting him to load (he's actually good at this BUT he does tend to assume he's moving house when he sees a horsebox, and he likes it here so might just rebel. If he loads (and assuming we get the ramp up without him having a nervous breakdown) we then have an hour's drive to my EP's yard. THis is good, because they know what he's like and are already prepared for the fact that the sight of other horses, grass, somewhere different, plus a man inflicting pain on him, are going to make JJ even more of a pain in the butt than he usually is If we survive all that, I then have to get him BACK in the box. As usual I have all sorts of strategies planned out but they all kind of involved me not displacing a couple of vertebrae in my neck (not JJ related ), and being able to control 500kg of cross QH. Oh well--I guess I'm going to have an entertaining Sunday! (Probably not as entertaining as Dr Dave's, mind you )

Finn - good luck with JJ, bless his little cotton socks.
I had the most bizarre dream last night - woke up in a cold sweat. I dreamt that Dave came in and said I had to get outside quick because King was about to foal. My exact words were "He can't - he's a boy". Well I went out to his stable and he was extremely cross (King, not Dave - Dave was helping King at this point). And then - don't ask me how cos it was a very strange dream, he had a foal, which was an exact replica of him in miniature!! (a clone). Then I woke up.....I checked my horse and he hadn't foaled - lol.
Anyway - my aim this year is to get back to enjoying riding. And possibly compete again with him. To set aside more time to riding and less to work (which admittedly is horses, but not riding).
