I want to do ridden and in-hand showing with Lady This is her: (I know my dress and turnout are wrong in this pic) She's 14hh skewbald mare, lightweight cob, will be fully trimmed and plaited. I think I have got most of my outfit worked out, but I'm still confused about jackets. Tweed or navy? Which is it? (I'm 27 btw) Thanks!!!! Anne & Lady

A tweed jacket will be correct for all the classes you want to do.
She is a cobby type of pony, but she'll look out of place in a cob or cob type class (as she's too small and too light) so steer clear of those if you can. I'd go for hunter pony/riding club pony/family pony/coloured classes. She's lovely and looks ot have great movement so I'm sure you'll do well.

Thanks cubic.
I have read in some places that tweed should only be worn by under-18's, so what does that apply to? That's what confused me!
Can I check the rest of my outfits with you? (Haven't bought them yet so do correct me if I'm going down the wrong track)...
btw, am planning to do coloured showing and family pony mainly...
Ok, In-hand: (top to toe) Navy blue velvet covered riding hat Hair in hairnet Tweed jacket White shirt Plain coloured tie Brown gloves Navy blue trousers Brown boots
Ridden:
Navy blue velvet covered riding hat Hair in hairnet Tweed jacket White shirt Plain coloured tie Brown gloves Beige jodhpurs Jodhpur clips Brown/black boots
Is there anything I'm forgetting?
And as for tack, I will probably use the same as she's wearing above. Should I change the flash noseband for a cavesson though?
Thanks a lot!!!

The tweeds for under 18s is for hunting rather than for showing. For showing what you wear depends on the type/height of horse you're riding and what class you're entering.
What you've got sounds absolutely fine. Sometimes a coloured shirt can be kinder to the complexion (!) yellow, light blue or pinstripe are popular. Your tie can be patterned as long as it's not too garish (or grey or black) and goes with the outfit.
A cavesson would be much preferable to a flash for all showing, but particularly for family pony classes where they're particularly looking for temperament and how easy they are to ride.

Ditto cubic, maybe see if you can find a smaller numnah too? or go without one?
and another little thing is to find some plaiting thread or thin elastic which blends in with your tweed, so brown/green etc and use that to tie your number on. You can make a loop either end, thread through the number holes and fasten over your bottome button on your jacket.
Just helps to neaten everything!

Thanks for the tips! That's really helpful!
I'll post some pics of us when we go to our first show of the year - hopefully in April.
Roll on spring! lol
