Can anyone give me some advice on Ponies UK registration and what I am supposed to do. I have the web site telling me one thing and the certificate i got telling me another.
I qualified for the dressage winter finals in March next year I have less than 7 days to register and I am confused.
The certificate says send to ponies uk with £10 (does that mean my registration fee or what ? it doesnt say) Then it says register as a senior rider so Im assuming I need to send £15 for that.
However....... I emailed the people to do with the memberships and they told me to join memberships for a price of £65 (which I certainly dont want to pay for ) and I have to send the registration details for £18. Which one is it ? I dont want to get it wrong as I wont be able to compete if do.
I have emailed te membership people again but I was hoping to see if anyone else has reg for the Dressage Finals to ??
Please help !!!

I think you have 7 days to register you and pony before the qualification then becomes valid. You then send off the qualification with an addition fee along with entry fees.
Basically Ponies (UK) have gone downhill, many people are not re-registering so they need the money!

Are you sure it's Ponies UK not UK Riders or trailblazers? Just that I've heard of the latter 2 having a "join within 7 days for about £10" system. If it is Ponies UK, the £10 is to secure your place at the final (a new system this year), and you must also join the society for the prices you quote to be able to compete at the final.

They've made it so confusing this year!!! That's why they're losing entries because no1 knows what to do and they want money money money!!! The best thing to do is to call them and speak to 1 of the ladies in the office, they're all really friendly so don't worry! Tel: 01487 830278 and ask for Jackie or Rebecca

I haven't been a PUK member for the past couple of seasons now, trying to progress into the adult society but even though I am 21 I am still looked upon as a child in my Hack classes so am in a catch 22! I like BSPS, at least you get your area meetings, points presentations etc

Apple just go for it. I felt I'd outgrown PUK and BSPS by about 18 (though I never have been that keen on children!) and have been competing against adults ever since (I'm 24 now) including qualifying a cob for HOYS aged 21, so it can be done as a young ameteur even though it feels like you're a tiddler swimming with the big fish.

I've been member of BSHA for the last 2 seasons but last yrs was wasted as I wasnt competing, I've only done 2 Hack classes this yr and the 1 I did at Rutland I was completely talked down to, I'll definately go for it next yr when she's more settled in a full ring she'll hopefully be well on the way to RI as Small Hack and SRT 'cos she's a lovely little horse, I used to love the SRT classes but now they're just full of kids belting round on 148s who try and ram you into the fencing (my experience at Area 7 in May)!!! I've got 2 new pics...will PM you so I don't hijack poor hantink's thread anymore!

The PUK Dressage Series has different reg requirements than the showing classes that have finals at Winter Championships do. The specific Winter Dressage page on the PUK website says: Riders Club membership costs £15. Now my understanding about the (changed for 2007-8) procedure for the SHOWING (not dressage) qualifications is that the two highest placed in first six in class, recieve certificate of qualification IN THE RING. Then send that in (inside 14 days?) with £10 to 'register' that qualification for that Championships Final. Also send full (adult) membership (not Riders Club membership - that's different) at same time if not already a member. Then pay £15 entry fee for the actual class at champs (and now they have a North and South Winter champs in March 2008, do as staed but can enter both North and South just pay £15 entry fee each time). Adult membership costs £50. I'm not certain about when you have to register the pony - but this costs £18. I would contact them again and stress that it is the DRESSAGE Finals you have qualified for, and qoute them the bit on the website (that I have put above - you'll find it on 'Winter Dressage' page of site) and the details are also on page 18 of the 2008 Rulebook, online. The rulebook says you have 14 days to send in, not 7 - perhaps there's a mistake on the qualification card (not impossible ) Hope this helps!
