need all this clobber?
Yes folks, I went to a competition on Sunday and spent the whole of Saturday getting ready for it, including tracking down all the bits and pieces that have scattered over the house, feed room and back kitchen in the space of the last 2 years. I knew I had seen the best spare girth lying quietly somewhere, but where?
I found it eventually. Does a dressage competition merit spare bridle, girth and full first aid kit? Discuss.
I put on front boots in case he came rushing down the ramp and onto a sharp stone, but apart from someone who was very interested in the boots as a replacement for shoes no-one made any comment. I carefully removed the boots before going into the arena, and put them back on afterwards. If anyone had said anything I was going to say it was a precaution, just like they might put on brushing boots. But no-one said anything. I noticed one other barefoot person there.
Oh, and guess what. Not only did I remember 2 dressage tests, I also came 3rd in one class.

that is fab, well done! I always think that if you take everything you'll never have to use it, but if you don't you'll need it! So taking spares, and things like a first aid kit is ensuring nothing will brake and you and your horse won't hurt themselves

Well done!
And in answer to your question. Yes, a dressage comp does require spare bridle, girth, numnah, extra pair of reins, gloves for competition wear only, schooling whip for competitions only, three hairnets..... well, that's what I always pack!

Also requires, rainsheets, cotton fly sheets, fleece sheets, 2 sets of boots (tendon & brushing), spare shirts, different colour ties, hair bobbles & ribbons, different colour gloves, spare water carrier as well as normal one etc etc etc.
My box is a walking bits and bobs shop but i have never gone without or not had what i needed, also go prepared for every eventuality i do!
And as we do different classes we need the different clothes etc, tweeds for M&M, navy for 1st ridden and jumping....... and of course the gloves must match and the hair accessories.... makes for some good quick changes when the classes run over - LOL
