;DWe were very pleased with Libby on Saturday...we did Prelim 17 in the long arena at The College EC and she got 65% (only her 3rd ever dressage test), bless her! I think I've found her forte!!!! ;D ;D

Well done Apple------------she looks lovely, very relaxed and is obviously enjoying herself doing "her own thing" without the pressure of other horses in the same ring. Good luck with her new career.

Ahhh Thank You! She loves dressage but don't think we'll get any further than Novice as she's not one for putting a lot of effort in! We'll still do showing but if I can get her out to dressage and work her in with others then she'll hopefully get more confidence and 'chill' when she goes in the ring. She's got this weekend off and then we've got another Prelim test next Sat and going to a small local show on the Sunday. We're entered for a HOYS qual on the 18th and I'm already scared! SS3 How did the Large Hack get on last week?

The Producer decided that he wouldn't put him through a 10 hour journey from Scotland to be kept in a stable with a foot of mud in it for two nights.--------------it just wasn't worth him having a bad experience like that when he has the Nat Champs and HOYS to do. As it was some people waited 8 hours to be towed out on Sunday, so it was a good decision.

I know we went up on Sunday and I was sliding all over the place in the mud! I wouldn't of taken Libby if she'd qualified but the Am Hack was a really nice class so wish I'd have done that now but there's no rush. People were queing to get in for over 4hrs aswell! We parked in the pub carpark and walked round although my Mum was desperate to do some off roading!

SS3 your producer was wise! Sunday was a nightmare at RIHS. Our last class was Saturday, but we decided to stay overnight to watch a friend in an early class on Sunday, and leave straight after.
When it started to rain on Saturday (6 ish??) we rather regretted not having gone. Then it rained and rained. We were all packed and intended to go around 11 on Sunday. Unfortuately whilst we went to watch our friend's class someone parked a lorry very close to us (less than 3 feet) - unbelievably stupid given the conditions!. The tractor guy was not willing to tow us off until the neighbouring truck had gone as we were very likely to hit it if the back of our HGV lorry swung. Ponies were quite happy munching in their (luckily very dry) stables and we walked them in hand as it was just too slippy for us to hack them out! Our neighbours returned and moved their lorry at 4 pm....we got towed off around 6 and only then after almost tearfully begging a tractor driver to tow us off.
I only loaded the ponies 20 mins before we moved as by this time it was quite warm and I didn't want them standing on the lorry for ages before we set off. Many people insisted on being towed unloaded (understandable).....then parked on the roadway and proceeded to bandage up anything up to 6 equines!! Boy did that hold up things!!
I must admit that that "camping" facilities at Hickstead are grim....and no Elsan point!! Some people emptied their loos on the massive muck heap mounds (which had kids cylcling up and down them on the drier days!!) and I even saw evidence that someone emptied theirs on the muck heap at the end of a row of stables. Nice! Environmental Health would have a field day!
Sorry to hijack your thread apple - feel much better now I have had a moan (weather hardly anyones fault though!!). Your mare looks very happy in the picture. I often feel that a dressage test gives them plenty to think about and wish that the SHP shows were more technical (only as this would suit us). At least with the workers we get to jump round too!

You sound like you've had fun ps!!! I heard a number of people almost in tears begging the guys in the tractor to pull them off. Felt sorry for one of the girls as a very unhappy exhibitor was laying into her about how terrible the whole wknd had been...poor girl it wasnt her fault! I didn't even think to mention it SS3 as thought you may have had enough after the previous day(s) you'd been there! Would have been nice to put chat to a face though!

what a disaster with the shows. Libby looks beautiful. think you all work so hard have given up with showing dispite having a pony whos father was a nps riding pony stud stallion/champion we still come last in local shows! So can only imagine the amount of work that goes into them.
