Weather permitting, but Bran and I may be going on on outing at the weekend! We have only ever done one show before so I have a couple of questions.
We'll be doing in-hand M&M...he's black so I have pale trousers, brown boots and was going to wear a brown tweed (brown tie) if I can find one....as for hats will my skull cap with a brown velvet do? Or should I get hold of a showing hat? (I don't have one of my own so will have to borrow one).
As for his tail it is nice and long and full, though perhaps a little too long...how should I trim it but leave it with natural looking ends?
Also there is a class for best turned out (in-hand or ridden)....I remember best turned outs from when I was younger for ridden horses. How should a horse be best turned out in-hand? Is it just a case of being clean and tidy? Being a M&M is it okay if he is shown in his natural state (i.e. unplaited)?

Are you going to the Ridgeway Show? If so we will be there to see Bran again. Don't plait by the way -

As for his tail it is nice and long and full, though perhaps a little too long...how should I trim it but leave it with natural looking ends? A skull cap is fine, a show hat is better and a beagler/patey or busman's type hat is better still. Whatever you wear I'm sure it'll be fine, so don't worry too much! M&M people tend to shorten the tail with a razor, but you can get a similar look with scissors by cutting upwards rather than across if you just want it a little bit shorter. Also there is a class for best turned out (in-hand or ridden)....I remember best turned outs from when I was younger for ridden horses. How should a horse be best turned out in-hand? Is it just a case of being clean and tidy? Being a M&M is it okay if he is shown in his natural state (i.e. unplaited)? You should turn out to your horses's type, so exactly as you would for the m&m class.

We will see you after all - I had a call last night and was asked to judge the racehorse classes - all ten of them! Just hope the weather is better than in London today.
