I must be mad but I've decided to enter a WHP class with Marigold. I've got an idea how to turn her out, but what about me?
And how does the class run? Jumping, then all clears back into the ring to do the individual showing part?
Help!

Yes, jumping first. Make sure you go up to the judge to say good morning/afternoon before your round, and stop and salute at the end. If there are lots of clears, only the clears go back in, but if there are fewer than 6 often those with faults go back too. From there it just runs like a show class.
You should be wearing a tweed jacket, shirt and tie, blue hat (or skull cap with blue cover, but a black hat is ok if that's what you've got), hair in a bun if it's long, beige or canary jods, brown gloves, brown or black whip or cane and short jod boots if your pony is under 14hh and preferably long boots if your pony is over 14hh. Marigold should be dressed as plainly as possible, she can wear a martingale if she needs one, and can have boots for the jumping phase only.

Thanks for this Cubic - I was hoping you'd see it!!
A couple more questions:
1. Is blue tweed ok? It's the only show we'll be doing this year and I can't afford to go and buy a new jacket for one show. As it's local level will we be ok?
2.Spurs - I take it these are 'correct'? Again, will I get marked down for not wearing them. I've not used them before and will probably end up in the next county!
3. Marigold - snaffle or pelham?

It'll be fine for local level 2.Spurs - I take it these are 'correct'? Again, will I get marked down for not wearing them. I've not used them before and will probably end up in the next county! Spurs are "correct" for horse WH classes, but not for pony classes. At local level (and even at county level) it isn't a problem if you don't wear them in horse classes, and in pony classes they aren't allowed. 3. Marigold - snaffle or pelham? Whichever she's happiest in, either is fine and snaffles are often used in WHP classes. If you use a pelham, make sure it's with two reins.

Brilliant - thank you!
Pelham - I always ride with 2 reins. Roundings are a pet-hate.
I must be mad. 90km ER - no problem. One little local WHP - I'm terrified already! Repeat after self - this is supposed to be fun!!!
