i have been "conned" (for the want of a better word!) into doing a riding club one day event. i have tried every excuse to get out of it.......but my friend it not having any of it!!! not too worried about the sj (its only 2'3!) not even that worried about the xc...............but the dressage fills me with fear!!! never done it before!!! swal finds striking off on the right canter lead hard, so will it matter if we cant do it?? i guess they can only take points off me for cocking one movement up?? is that right??? or would i be better not performing the canter on the right rein at all and sticking to trot? arrgggggghhhh!!! PANIC PANIC PANIC!!!

Go for it, if you can do the jumping i'm sure you can get through the dressage, even if it's not your forte. swal finds striking off on the right canter lead hard, so will it matter if we cant do it?? i guess they can only take points off me for cocking one movement up?? is that right??? or would i be better not performing the canter on the right rein at all and sticking to trot? Yes, you'll only loose points for that movement (or possibly 2 movements if it spans two). Definately try for canter. If you canter round on the wrong leg you'll probably get 1-4/10, but if you trot instead you'll get 0/10 for not attempting the movement. If the rest of your test is good you can end up with a good score despite some problem areas - anyway, as long as you get to the jumping and enjoy your day it shouldn't matter toooo much where you come. You never know, you might suprise yourself!
