Sorry to seem thick, but I always thought there was an age limit of 12 in FR?

lovely pics - I don't know about the age limit but I went to the Northumberland show last bank hol and the same pony and rider (not the OP !!) won both the leadrein and first ridden classes which I thought didn't seem right that they should be in both classes. Is it right that a child not ready to come off the leadrein can win that class and then go onto win the class where they are ready to come off the leadrein? same judge too it didn't seem fair on the other competitors.

Well it was a FRin such it was a class for 12.2hh and under no age (the show called it a FR)
Normaly M&M First Ridden is not to have attained there 12th Birthday befor Jan 1st in the current year.
As for Lead Rein Riders going in to FR you see this alot at County Level.. there are no rules against it.

Sorry I'll just butt in here, the class was named First Ridden but wasn't literal like in the usual sense (thus there was no age limit) it was judged as an open class, just as the 13.2 and under and 14.2and under classes after, probably should have just put it down as the under 12.2 class Hope that's a bit clearer?

I was actually only enquiring because i might be taking my step daughter to these kinds of shows in the future - she is 12 but cannot ride at all. So was interested in the set up. she will be to old for first ridden and be up against those with too much experience for her to feel comfortable in the type of class you describe. I think we will just stick to fun shows instead of getting into these showing rules/no rules !!!!!!
