We are going to our first show next weekend and depending how Bran reacts I may consider entering a class with him! But I don't really know what I should be wearing and what he should be wearing. We only plan on entering FOR FUN so am not too bothered about being very correct.
Show: local, plan on entering a youngstock in-hand class.
Horse: for a youngstock class how should I prepare my gelding? He is a Welsh D with a long and thick mane so I can't really plait him up without it looking like he has bowling balls down his neck! Will this matter in a youngstock class? He's 3 so how should I lead him - in a bridle?
Me: Should I wear pale trousers and white shirt for in-hand showing? Thanks!

Hi - Don't worry about plaiting, as he's native he should be unplaited anyway. I'm not used to showing M&M youngstock so not sure if he should be in a normal bridle (in which case should be a snaffle bridle with plain cavesson noseband and plain browband) or a white halter (others on here will be able to advise on this).
You should be wearing light coloured trousers as you said, shirt (pale or striped) & tie (any colour except white, black but spotted coloured ties look nice) and preferable a tweed jacket orr maybe a waistcoat. Short, comfortable boots for running in, brown gloves and matching brown show cane. Hats are usually optional but if in doubt wear one, if it doeasn't state that you need a hat with a harness a nice beagler looks very smart. But at the end of the day most local shows won't be too picky so long as you are both safe and smart, have fun :-)
