ok sorry for this question I have never ever shown before. this is a local show. I would like to enter the local horse in hand show, in local I mean living near the show ground.
Ok heres the daft question.
He is a bay tb do you lead in a nice leather head collar or a bridle. Headcoller is brown leather with brass clincher on the brow band and nose band. If bridle what colour I know its only a local show but I would like to get it nearly right, as there are quite a few in the locality that do show regularly. Oh and whats ok for me to wear ?

Local usually means the owner lives within 15miles - but best to look on the schedule.

Lead him in a bridle, preferably brown leather with a leather lead rein. Depending on his type, you may need to put a coloured browband on the bridle, but there are more showing experts out there who will be able to tell you! Cubic is usually really good on showing.

Definately lead in a bridle if this is an adult TB ie. 4yrs over, also if this is the case, you should have his normal ridden reins but obviously brought over his head as when leading. If you really want to do this right, then a pelham bit is considered correct for adult horse's in-hand if they are not Natives or Stallions. I am assuming your TB is over 4? if not then an in-hand bridle or your snaffle bridle with coupling and single leather rein.
Hope that helps.

Carole is spot on with the bridle and reins, and as jenny b and amelia said, if he is of finer build then a coloured browband would be appropriate - but if in doubt, go with the plain leather one.
Good luck at the show.
