Fitting a german/mechanical hackamore correctly

Hi, hope this is on the right board...

I would very much like some advice on how a german/mechanical hackamore should be correctly fitted. Can anyone give me a definitive description, and if at all possible some photos illustrating how a correctly-adjusted one should look? I tried google, but couldn't find enough different pics for comparison. I would really like to know, as the place I've discovered for hacking out uses them, and I'm concerned that I adjust the thing properly so as not to harm the horse - I have heard that they can be very severe if incorrectly fitted?

Is is the one that has a curb chain round the nose and a sidepull action? if so, I cam email you instructions.

Instructions would be brilliant, thanks! I think that's the type I mean... have a look here for some pictures of it. It just looks too far down on the nose to me. But I could be wrong!
