A nice little equestrain centre that i have been to before are holding an unnfailiated dressage day in June and im thinking about giving it a go. It could all go wrong like but ahh well gotta try some day!
The classes they are holding are -
P1, P10, N25 and something else. Are P1 and P10 the easitest ones? I really do want someting simple and they are qualifiers for someford park which i would love to go to because i went there last year with a friend. Not saying that id do well or anything but ya know!
Anyway has anyone got copies of the tests that i could perhaps look at or does anyone know if you can view them online? Id just like to have an idea before i decide or not. Thankyou.

The P1 and P10 are the Prelim levels which are the easiest. The N is novice which is the next stage up. I think you have to buy the dressage tests, unless someone on here is willing to let you have a copy.

you cna buy them from tack shops for about 50p. or join dressage diagrams and pay to view online. but a friend may have copies?
p1 is a new one, judged a little differently. meant to be easy. p10 is not the easiest of the prelims but still completely doable. p4 is the easiest i think, followed by p7. but as long as your horse can walk, trot, canter, circle and turn, i would have a go anyway!

Thanks people! The website of the equestrain centre im going to ask if i require a copy of the test for 50p but thats when you actually give your details for entering so i would need to get my hands on one some other way. The nearest shop is miles away so maybe i just enter and have a crack at it anyway? Ohh i dont know!

Can you find a local riding club that has its members own shows? Our club does and its very relaxed and they do a beginners only class for first timers.
So long as you can walk trot and canter on both leads on demand in a reasonable fashion then have a go.
There are ways to get better marks, like being very accurate - trot exactly by the letter, doing nice shaped circles and going straight down the centre line and having a good square halt. Practice halting one evening. I discovered that to get a square halt I only needed to use one hand. If I used both my horse would swing to one side and it was only by repeating the exercise and experimenting that I found this out. After that we always got a good mark for our halt!

I love Prelim 18 too - flows so nicely and not too tricky to remember. Personally, go for P10.... there is a good website to subscribe to www.dressagediagrams.com and you can print off the tests.
