I am taking Ben to Newton Hall tomorrow to have a go at this unaffiliated series, and I wondered if anyone else had done it/is doing it? Just wondered how popular it is? Looking at some of the winners photos on their website there are some horses which look like they should be affiliated and others which look very out of place (ears in face).
I always feel really bad doing these things as I know Ben is capable of affiliated dressage - but we never win as theres always tonnes of trophy hunters there!

Well done Natalia. Ive watch the UK chasers classes a lot as my trainer runs them at her yard and i have to say the standard of some is extremely good way capable of winning at affiliated level. Don't no why you should feel bad about taking your horse to this just because he's capable of affiliated. I would love to do it but I'm affiliated. Why not try some affiliated comps on a class ticket system from BD if you don't want to affiliate. Ive never found trophy hunters just bloody good horses and riders. Good luck, and don't forget to let us know how you get on!!!

Never been to the Newton Hall dressage one (dressage? - what's that?!) but did do the Poplar Park SJ a couple of years ago and it's like any sort of unrestricted competition - the bounty hunters come out of the woodwork. People that I'd never seen before on VERY posh SJers in VERY posh SJ outfits that arrived in VERY posh horseboxes.
Having said that, I still qualified for the regional finals and only missed out on the nationals by 1 place, and I'm REALLY no SJer!!!!
Best of luck though. I'm sure you'll wow them.
