What are the best sites for looking up information on pre-navicular.
The internet is a mine field, and I am getting very lost with it all!!
Where do you all go if you want good acurate information on horses health, without being totally stressed out with technical terms, and long latin names that we cant pronounce!!

My mare had pre navicular/navicular syndrome and I did tons of research on it culminating in an assignment for my Equine Bowen exam. If u want to leave your email address I could try and email it to you if you like.

The problem is, that sites with a lot of technicalities are those where you are most likely to get the most recent research. I think that, if you really want to learn about this, it is going to be a long-term project, and involve learning what an awful lot of technical terms mean. As regards Latin, it is entirely phonetic, and if you break it down into syllables, you will get something you can remember from one article to another, even if you are not 100% correct in your pronounciation. Also, try to see where ideas are coming from. If you have a lot of evidence from independant sites (one's not trying to sell an approach or a product) that means more than a lot of evidence from one place. I have now read three sites, pointing in the same direction (suggesting incorrect trimming may be a hazard for navicular) which begins to suggest this may be the case. But with any acedemic research, there is a lot of work before you get a feel for an area! You could also tell your vet how interested you are, and ask what he has recently read on the subject. He will probably be pleased to lend it to you - this may take you a week of hard work to read, but may well be more worthwhile that something more popular.

Hi Wendy,
Alex beat me to the article on my website.
You could alos try following for feedback from both farriers and vets:
www.ukhsu/forum/
And
www.horseshoes.com
The latter is American but the feedback on the bulletin boards is very good and very helpful and still very relavant.
Hope that helps.
