I have the SBS and it its great. Ive not had any experience of the phoenix so couldnt comment, but from the pics it looks almost the same as the SBS.
I would definatly go for one if you are wanting to go treeless.

The Fhoenix is about 1.5" shorter in the panels (and it has a half tree in the cantle). I've not tried one but I would like to try the new Fhoenix with the Suberpanels.

I haven't ridden in the Fhoenix FA but have an SBS and it's great.
It's really comfortable, puts you in a much better position so that you're not having to pull the stirrups back to get your shoulder/hip/heel line and suits almost every horse that it's put on.
I also feel a lot more secure in the SBS than in a 'normal' saddle though I have a dressage and don't like it for hacking/jumping because of the set back stirrup bars.
