Ok I hadn't even seen a passport until I got my new horse, my other two horses dont need them, so its all a bit new for me.
1- Which section do the vacs go in, as its a combined flu&tet vaccine? Is it under the "equine influzena" or "other" or both?! Vet was also a bit confused as there arent many people with passports over here!
2- The old owner filled it in (its was before it had to be done by a certified person/body) but according to that he doesnt actually have any whorls etc- our vetting certificate is a much more accurate drawing, is there any way of getting it changed? How much willl it cost?!
Ta, x

This is one of the silly things about passports. My horse's vet's description was done when he was a foal and I just transferred this to the new passport that was issued last year - quite legally and correctly. But it is a nonsense because he has developed some new markings since he was a foal. Having got a signed, stamped legal passport I was not going to call out a vet to do another description unless it was legally necessary.
My influenza/tet jabs go in under the "equine influenza" section. I suppose if it was JUST a tet jab it could go in the other section. Some horses have jabs for EVA, mine did when he was young because he was on a stud, but my vet said that as he is a gelding and not mixing with stud animals it is no longer necessary.
Are you in a different country, because you say your other horses "don't need passports." In the UK all horses are supposed to have them, but I suspect some still don't.

Yup, ours have the tetanus bit recorded under the flu bit too! The only thing I have recorded in other vax bit is the EHV for the broodmares.
I'm not sure about how or whether you can get the passport updated - I think it's probably worth contacting the issueing society & asking this question.
Pip - Ktk is not on mainland England - not sure how where she is should be classed to be honest!

Oops should have explained, sorry. I live on the Isle of Man, so we don't fall under the same legislation as the UK as we are not part of the EU/UK. So, obviously dont have to have passports for our horses.
Oh his last owner didnt fill in the bit about for human consumption, who do I have to get to sign the "signature of representative of competant authorities" does it really have to be the vet?

I think you can leave that bit blank now. The first passports wanted this bit filled in by the first owners, but various charities and authorities challenged this and I don't think you have to fill it in unless your horse is getting drugs that might affect its use for human consumption.
Not a nice subject, but sometimes young horses have to be put down and if they are not getting any drugs they can go to an abbatoir and the owners can get a bit of money for them. However, if you have an oldie and you don't want it to go this way, then you have the option of signing this part.
