hey
i remember on the old thread there was something about a herb or supplement that helped with ragwort poisoning or something like that
My horses field is regularly cleared but every year more appears. One of my horses eats everything in his field and i know horses dont normally eat it unless it is withering but i would like something just incase, can never be too cautious!!!!!
Can anyone remember? thanks

Milk thistle is the main one, the guy at Ragwort UK reckons that terminal horses have been turned around by it - he told me that it stops the poison from jumping from cell to cell. He opened capsules from Holland and Barret, but you can buy it for horses from Equimins I think. He also said that his old pony loved celery when she had ragwort poisoning. He is very helpful and knowlegeable, and ismore than happy to share his knowledge if you look up the number and give him a ring. I read in one of the horsey mags ages ago that Nux Vomica is good too.
Ragwort is still poisonous when it is wilting, just tastes better to the horse. It is funny though how some horses live to a ripe old age in fields full of the stuff, maybe they don't really eat enough of it until it is in the hay. I can't believe how many people are just cutting it this year, a dreadful field near me was cut about a month ago, and smaller yellow flowers are appearing already.
