hello everyone,
I have just bought a lovely little arab colt as over the next few years I would like to enter the show circuitand wanted a friend for my Andalusian. He's my first Arab and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about his lines, Crystal Magician, omar el sareef.
Could anyone give any tips on what he should be shown in, how should his mane and tail be trimmed? feathers and facial fluff cut? or natural. What should I wear?
I could look it up but I am sure it is better to get it all first hand from some knowleagable people who have been there done that got the t-shirt. Anyway, I have plenty of time to get it right!! ALL tips on handling arabs and foals all very welcome please. Want to do my best for this little chap.
thanks all!

Hi
The Arabian Emporium have training days over winter that are very popular - I went to one and it was excellent. They take you through everything in one day about showing, let you have a go, encourage you to ask questions throughout, tips on how to prepare them, what to wear etc etc. They are not at all expensive and you get a lovely lunch!
It is all indoors so the weather is no problem! They are in Belper in Derbyshire - a lovely part of the country and very central - not far from Alton Towers. The link is on Arabian Lines.
PS There is also a fab Arabian Shop on site that they open up for you to browse around, you will be able to find a lovely in-hand bridle there. Def something to plan to do over the grim winter months.

I have a Crystal Magician granddaughter - Crystal Fire. Excellent bloodlines ;D Best to get some advice about the showing, and meanwhile don't trim or clip anything. Arabs are showm very natural. Hope you have some good times together.

Omar El Sireff is a black straight egyptian stallion imported from America by Diane Jeffries of Fairview Arabians, he's now owned by the lady who owns Elysium Arabians - her name could be Lisa Duffy not sure. I know she bought him and his son from Diane when she sold up. Crystal Magician was a deep liver chestnut stallion who was owned until his death by Cullinghurst Arabians and he was BNC on more than one occassion. You're not allowed to take whiskers off and don't trim the tail or pull the mane, good luck and hope you enjoy your first arab.

now I am a little concerned, I have heard that a lady bought two youngsters from Omar El Sireff and they both have joint problems. I have the vet coming out soon for a pre purchase check (as I have only given a deposit so far) but I hope he will be able t tell.
Has anyone else heard anything about this stallion?

It might not be the stallions fault, could be that the youngsters are over fed

Hi Judy
Where do you find out info on Arabian Emporium?
My friend has also just bought her first arab so that she might be quite interested.
Thanks ;D

Speak to Madeleine Sutherland, arabianemporium at hotmail dot com. She's a very nice, genuine person.
Good luck - but Arabs are terribly addictive.... There is an amateur show on at Wetherby Racecourse on Sunday if you can make it? SJade is taking a couple and we are going to cheer her on!
