hey ppl, i found out 4 weeks ago that my 13 yo mare has bone spavin, she has had steriod injections into the hocks and is on cortavet. she is sound at the mo and is due another check in 3 weeks. another livery at my yard has offered the use of her Bioflo magnetic boots to put on her back legs everynight. obviously ill ring my vet on mon to get his opinion, but i was just wondering if anyone here had used magnetic boots and what results did u have? thanks!!

I have heard so much positive stuff about the magentic therapy and use a necklace and ring myself which I believe do work, my grandparents swear by it in relief of their arthritis and they are 90! As its a boney condition I would think anything like this is worth a go, I used them when my horse developed splints and they appeared to help. In British Dressage magazine this month a girl in there said their horse was intermittently lame for a while and after using bioflow boots its been fine as its a cob type they were referring too he would be pre-disposed to these sort of boney conditions so maybe they helped him.

Hi
My chap has arthiritis and I have just ordered some fetlock boots from ebay, I was recommended them by a lovely lady named Jo who has a therapy yard, they cost me £20 which is far cheaper than in the shops.
He is only on No Bute at the moment but I was thinking of starting him on cortaflex, is your horse out 24/7 year round? I am moving him to a field where he can be out all year round with a shelter as don't want him to stiffen up further by being stabled.
Anyway good luck with your horse
Carol
