Has anyone converted a Bob Marshall saddle to the English girthing system??
I ask because I was in the process on trying out the said saddle (which is fantastic) but I don't think the Western style of cinching is suitable for my wide, short backed, big shouldered Arab.
I rode just twice in the BM, but the cinch has rubbed a horrible sore just above the elbow so my little mare is having to have a week or so off for it to heal. I had to do the cinch quite tight as the saddle was slipping, but I have never had to do an English girth quite as tight so I wondered whether a change to that style of girthing would be OK.
This saddle is amazing and I have never ridden in anything so comfortable, but obviously the comfort of my horse comes first.
Finally, if anyone rides in one of these saddles, what sort of distance or how long do you ride for? I am interested because I will be doing rides up to 25/30 miles maximum (less for TREC - about 12.5 miles).
Thanks
Jo

I know you can get a cashel converter. They can change english to western and western to english, would that work? www.cashelcompany.com/e_ess.php#The english one is here but the western one has the same concept i think.
