Am in the process of getting a thermie rug for my thr X boy he takes a 6.9" normally which fits him very well, he has big shoulders.
I have been told that you should get a size smaller with these rugs, e.g 6.6", but I have been offered a 6.9" at a good price and am thinking about going for it.
The problem is that I can`t send it back, if its to big, would a 6.9" be miles to big on him then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone have a thermatex rug who can offer some advise please.

An extra 3inches in a rug is not a bad thing, as Lucy says above they can and do shrink. Is he cobby or fine. With my boys, being cobby i can often get away with a size bigger.

he`s on the chunky side, so i think i`ll go for the 6.9" better to be to big than small.

I agree- I bought a 5ft 9" for my normally 6ft horse and regretted it.

I find a size smaller fits. I have a 6'9" thermatex but buy 7' in everything else. Also I've washed mine lots of times & it didn't shrink at all.
