Hello all, Has anyone read Dan Sumerel's book 'FINDING THE MAGIC' ?? Any good or the same as IH but different view point?? A bit of worry about it because 'Dr. Robert M. Miller, DVM' (the imprinting man from the videos) says; 'Since the revolution in natural horsemanship began in the last decades I have seen few good books on the subject. FINDING THE MAGIC is one of the best, ever!' www.sumereltraining.comThanks Nick

Has anyone read Dan Sumerel's book 'FINDING THE MAGIC' ?? Any good or the same as IH but different view point?? I haven't read the book, but I saw a Dan Sumerel demo at Equitana USA some years ago. To my mind, it was horribly rough, loud and brash (in total contrast to Mark Rashid who was also there). The young horse he was working with appeared to be scared witless by the loud crackling of the plastic bag at the end of the whip - "to get his attention and respect" of course. I didn't like the way he hectored the audience either. The odd thing was they seemed to lap it up with appreciative murmurs even after being effectively told they were ignorant gunsels. He scathingly described how one of his female clients talked so much to her horse he wanted to stick duct tape over her mouth - nice (not!) - yet he himself never stopped talking all the way through the demo. Go figure!

For me Mark Rashid's books are the absolute best, and have been instrumental in me truly getting there with Bobby. Don't think I would like this other person's books at all having read Francis Burtons's post!
