Can anyone think of any largeish companies that hire these panels out long term? (In East of Manchester) Because of having to juggle one field for two entires ive decided to make a pen where I can safely turnout my stallion without fear of him jumping out as hes discovered he can jump normal sized fences (up to 4'6'') can anyone also tell me about how many I would need to make a 20m diameter ish pen?
HSS hire them out for a fiver a week each which is a bit much for me!

You can buy them for about £20 -£30 pounds each and without looking at ours they are about 12 foot long. I think the feet are about £5 each. And the joining brackets are about £7 per pair. Ask at a small hire company and they should sell you some used ones - thats what we have for the landscape stuff we do.

Thank you, didnt realise I may be able to get them that cheaply. Will have a look in yellow pages and start ringing round as would like my stallion to be able to have longer turnout times and not have to trek him 1/2 mile up the road to the field which means he cant go out when its icy.
has anyone else used them for turnout in and have they been ok? I may test them with the shettiex who is an escape artist first...

www.fencehire.co.uk/ are probably worth a try too. I know of someone who used this type of fencing to restrict the movement but provide a bit of turnout post operation successfully.

Check out all your local free ad type papers too as that is where we got ours from 2nd hand. We use ours for our chickens and ducks but would not hesitate to use them for horses if necessary. Get the 'anti-climb' version though as the other type have the bars too far apart and you could risk a hoof going through. S x

We also bought second hand ones Jo. Often builders yards will sell broken ones cheap just to get rid. When i say broken some will just require cable ties to strap them back together round the top or bottom. We also used cable ties to join them together. I would reckon about 15 - 20 would biuld you a pen of a good size. We had 2 up in the paddock as stallion turnouts. The lads used to have one each and they were then out in company without being together. Philippa

my 12.2 before gelding jumped 3'6" to cover a mare. (hehe. his owners didnt think he would get over but they had the cutest filly to show for it in the end. ) Cost him his bits though.
