The greyhound looks similar to how my whippetx bedlington terrier looked when I found her wandering the street with a washing line tied round her neck
She was full of worms, very very thin and covered in sores just like this little dog. She was also 8 years old. Her owner came to collect her from me (after I had found her 6 days previously and put up posters all over the village the SAME DAY) I told him in no uncertain terms that if he insisted on taking her back I would be ringing the RSPCA immediately, suprisingly he left without his dog.
Fortunately she made a full and wonderful recovery and is a fantastic dog, very used to home comforts now such as a cozy bed and a sofa to sleep on, something she had never had before.
People here will know a lot of my ponies are rescues in one way or another, many would have been put down or gone through sales if I hadnt taken them on.
For christmas this year both my neices got an adopted pony from redwings, I am also bought an adoptive horse/pony from a charity every christmas from my mum and have been ever since I was five! I also ask family and friends to donate some money to the ILPH or similar equine charity on my brithday rather than buying me smellies for the bathroom or something like that, feel much better knowing Ive bought a starving pony a bale of hay than having a lavender scented bath bubble set which, although very nice, is a bit useless as I usually shower!
Its a fantastic present to have an adopted horse and very inexpensive.
I am always dissapointed by the response to charity appeals and fundraising from the general horse population, it seems to be that something take a bit much effort or time or people just cant be bothered.
An example is my photoshow, Ive had TWO entries from the equestrian message boards I have posted on which is terrible as I have seen hundreds of photos posted all over the place yet people cant be bothered to fill in a form email some pictures and pop a cheque for a few quid in the post in aid of a charity?
Fortunately it has been supported well locally, one person entering almost 30 photographs!!
Lets hope there is more support for charity in the future hey and if anyone would actually like to enter the ILPH photoshow details are, as always, on the webpage with a link in my sig. I have extended the entry closing date to 1st march due to christmas post problems and wanting to give plenty of time for rosette ordering.
