Man injured and pony dead
A MAN was seriously injured when a car collided with a pony at the weekend.
The incident, on Newland Common Road, Droitwich, happened just before 10.45am on Saturday.
A 4x4 was in collision with a pony being ridden by a woman, and a man who was walking behind.
In front of them was another pony being ridden by a 15-year-old girl. The mother of the girl was walking alongside the man, on the grass verge.
Both women and the girl escaped injury, but the man, thought to be in his 30s, suffered serious head, shoulder and leg injuries.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital for further assessment, where he remains. The driver of the car was not hurt.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received a number of calls about the collision and dispatched a rapid response vehicle and air ambulance to the scene.
A spokesman said a vet called to the scene confirmed the pony had died in the incident.
Its horrible at any time of year but especially around this time of year. I hope the people and their family are ok.

I heared about this on the news, I have an idea where Newland Common is and the roads are usually really quiet round there, it just goes to show how dangerous the roads can be.
Absolutely devastating news, it seems to be happening quite regularly lately
