I've just managed to get my numbers down to 10 and it is hard work doing it all on my own. I work 4 days a week - reduced from full time because I had a heart attack and my cardiologist said that the time I spent with the horses was good for my health. My employers won't usually countenance part time, so every cloud eh? ;D
I have very little quality time with any of them. I am quite happy to pay people like Emma and James to train my horses when I can afford it, they are infinitely better riders than I will ever be. I would be quite happy to let someone else do some of the work, I would like to spend more time training them and less time shovelling sh*t.
I've brought most of my horses up from birth or or weaning, my relationship with them is secure, I don't *have* to do *everything* for them to maintain it, even tho' I actually do at the moment.

I'd like someone else to do the boring mundane sh*t shovelling chores and I'd like him to be tanned, blonde, and 6'3

I would stay as i am- me and my dad (and now sharer) look after him and ride him, i personally think that half of the fun is the mucking out, spending time with them

Lucky enough to rent grazing next to my home for my boys so always do them myself including tucking up for the night at 10-11pm Just occasionally it would be nice to have a night away or a lie in but not possible You do end up not trusting anyone else to do them or thinking a friend will not be able to catch them etc. It would be brilliant to own the land so I could put up field shelter enabling them to stay out 24/7

I would like to be closer to the horses, although its only 4 miles its a pain. I would like to get a donkey or two for hubby to drive now he can no longer ride. I would like a baby to play with as well.

You do end up not trusting anyone else to do them or thinking a friend will not be able to catch them etc. Why? When people do my horses, they do as they are told, that's what they are paid for, not for their opinions or own routines. When people train my horses, they train them as I wish, *they* are paid for their opinions and skills, but only in so far as it meets my purpose. If everyone had the attitude "can't trust anyone else to do ..... (any important task) " most of us wouldn't have jobs to pay for our horses in the first place.

i personally think that half of the fun is the mucking out, spending time with them Ah Katie, I think you've hit the nail on the head: IF there's enough time left to play with them, ride them or do ground-work, then I wouldn't mind the chores so much, it's because the chores always have to come first there isn't necessarily enough FUN time left afterwards ;D

personally I would have all the chores done for me. I hate the attitude of 'if you don't want to muck out, poo pick, fill haynets etc you're missing out'. Sorry, but I'd far rather spend the time with my horse that shovelling crap. It doesn't make you a better person..

I choose stay as I am because I love the day to day looking after of him. I would like to be able to afford another horse though
