there is a support site for the premarin mares....i'll try and find it, it offers adoption for many of the foals and the best ones do find homes. I'll try and remember the site.

Opposition to Premarin production has been going on for MANY years - when I briefly went on HRT over 10 years ago I specifically asked my Doc for a product that did not contain Premarin. She was amazed when I explained why - and I hope she recommended other products to other patients afterwards.
Keep up the opposition - it may one day be effective.

What would be a good idea is if we could get a poster designed and get people to distribiute them in doctors surgeries?? I know all the non horsey people ive told were freaked out purely by the mention of urine being in it!

I hate to say it and probably come across as somewhat hypocritical having just rescued several french meat horses...but,I really dont think that adopting the foals is the way forward,it wont solve anything atall and if anything will give the perpetrators of this a little extra income/a nice avenue of getting rid. It is actually partly because of my involvement with the french horses that I feel this way. Any time/effort/money would be FAR better spent on other methods, such as raising awareness. I know how hard it is to sit by and do nothing, and when we are given the opportunity to act,ie; adopt a wee foalie that faces certain death it is soooo tempting. But it isnt the answer. The answer is get out there with posters/flyers etc and shout about it.

ye i see where you are coming from sarahfox. i was just showing my mum the link that is mentioned on this page and she said oh we will adopt a foal! i think it was just the spur of the moment and it does sound quite exciting but when you start to think about the details it becomes quite complicated. all of our horses are rescued and my mum has a habit of seeing a poor soul and saying 'ill have it!'. she cant help herself really lol im definatly up for raising awareness. im going to get creative! what else could we do? dont you have to have some sort of permission to hand out flyers? im not really sure what it involves? the idea of distributing flyers in surgeries is a great idea but im not sure how to go about it? by the way gem i think we should persaude people not to use it because it has urine in it! it seems to work!!

i just read an article on the web about premarin and saying that monty is only interested in money or else he would help. Although its obviously not this straight forward it did raise the question in my mind......
