Does anyone use it & how good do you find it? I know some people swear it's the best on the market & having worked out the cost per day it isn't actually as pricey as I first thought. However if it isn't going to work then it's expensive!
Jim is permenantly on Feel Good 30 Science Formula Calmer which seems to work fairly well for him, but I'm wondering if the Nupafeed would be better. In the past I've tried NAF Magic & either calmag or magox (can't remember which but from Jackie Taylor) but neither of these worked as well as FG30 & he started acting edgy & sharp again. FG30 is magnesium & B vits, does anyone know what's in Nupafeed apart from magnesium?

Hi Sorry I dont have an answer for you but regarding the magic and FG30 how much do they cost to use? Also is a lot of supplement needed each day quantity wise- a scoop, a mug full?
I have heard good things about nupafeed on forums but dont know anything personally. I was thinking of trying magic or topspec calmer but I would like to try something that I dont need loads of as he doesnt have a lot of feed. A friend tried equifeast calmer and it was loads of white powder it took loads of feed just to make it eatable!

Nupafeed is very good stuff. I wouldn't of got through the last 10 months without it. I have moved to Mag ox now & I'm having not to bad a result with it. Ive found with all Mag supps that you have to find your horses dosage, I did have to feed more Nupafeed than stated to get results. I spoke to them about it & they said many customers have to play with the dosage before they find what works. However i stick between Jackie's guidelines but i still play with the amounts of Mag Ox & that seems to be working as well. I still have a small amount of Nupafeed left so i will go & look at whats in it when i get 5 Min's & will post it for you. I would recommend Nupafeed as i can't say a bad word about the product just the price tag that gets a bit to much & the only reason Ive moved as i have 3 horses on it.

Kath with the FG30 I usually feed 2 20g scoops a day (a bit under the recommended dose for Jim's size), more in spring & autumn or if he starts looking as though he needs it. I think NAF Magic was a similar amount, but even feeding at the full dose for his size it wasn't very effective for him though I know people who've had good results with it. There was also the problem of getting him to eat it, though Topspec was worse - no matter how small an amount I added to his feed he wouldn't touch it & in the end I admitted defeat & gave it to a friend. Price wise a tub of FG30 lasts 30 days for an average sized horse & costs around £17 (the cheapest I've found is www.4dobbin.co.uk at £15.35). On the same site NAF Magic is £17.61 for 40 days supply. Eskimo it would be great if you could look for me & see what else is in the Nupafeed, I had looked on their website but couldn't see any list of ingredients. Thanks so much Thistle thanks for the link, I'd already looked there but it didn't have all the info I would have liked & they obviously aren't going to print any negative comments!

This is quite bizarre as i've been doing some enquiries about this stuff only today!
I also have tried the naf magic and didn't find it helped my horse.
I had quite a long chat to the woman at Nupafeed who explained how it worked.
You are right, you do have to play around with the dosing, to start with you feed a loading dose, which means you get through a 1 litre bottle in 2-3 weeks! It's £27 a bottle! (cheaper if you get the bigger bottle).
Once you've loaded the horse you can feed a maintenance amount a day, which if you do, it ends up the 1 litre bottle lasts 40 days, so the £27, although more than magic, isn't much more!
You can up this dose, like magic, on show days or time's when stress is likely to be increased.
Apparently, if you up it, and find that the horse is still stressed, it's because they're burning off the magnesium in the body, and supplied by the calmer, and will need more.
People tend to think it doesn't work, but don't play around with the doses.
I didn't ask what else was in it, but all the contents are not prohibitive if you want to compete!

Have PM'd you Naria. JaneyB - If you do choose Nupafeed i would recommend you go for the 5lt bottle to start with as you will use a lot with the loading doses. Also you might not see any difference for up to 4 - 6 weeks, so don't give up it does work. You can also buy boosters i have used these as well, i still keep them just in case. They work well for unusual stressful situations. I first used the boosters when i went to the Badminton Young Horse dressage champs as my horse had to stay overnight & was mega stressed & exited, the boosters really helped. I have moved to Mag Ox now & i am getting the same results i still play with the dosage & its working well. The Mag Ox does contain more Mag than Nupafeed so you can use less & get the same results but again you have to stick with it. If i ever have any trouble with the Mag Ox i wouldn't hesitate to go back to Nupafeed. I think i right in saying this though that Mag calmers only work well if the horse in question is deficient. Mine are & the Mag products works well. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

Thanks for the info naria. I have got some of the Fg30 calming supplement and see how we go with that for now. Nupafeed sounds good but expensive. I might consider it if a cheaper calmer doesnt work.

Hi Eskimo, thanks for the info. Why did you change from Nupa to mag ox?
I did e-mail jackie taylor, but haven't received anything back yet.
Do you have a cheap supplier for the mag ox?
