I wanted to give blood, as its a nice thing to do.... so looking on the website and answering all the questions I've failed at the last hurdle!! You have to weigh more than 7st 12, and i only weigh 7st 4!! I've got no chance of putting 9lbs on!

I've got really rare blood group, so thought I should go and give some away (not realising that if it's rare, not many people actually need it. lol).
On the way out a man passed out on the steps. I turned to my dad and said "Huh! See? You men just can't take it". Got home, sat on the kitchen stool and started talking to my mum, next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor. lol
After that experiene, and seeing as they said there is no real call for my blood group, I never went back.
I'm guessing that if you are under the required weight, you'll just have to wait for middle age spread to appear.... same as me!! lol

I went to give blood and was turned away because i had had a tattoo less than 12 months ago. I was gutted as i have a rare blood group and really wanted to do it.
Now i cant ever give blood as i have had anti d injections through pregnancy which is counted as a blood transfusion.

Me too Lucy. I had a full transfussion after I had my second lad (they recone I had about an armfull left !), so they dont want me now, even tho mine is the most usfull sort. Suits me - I used to hate doin it, & only did cos it was my "public duty" !!

I used to always give blood up to me having a mastectomy 12 years ago. Never even thought they wouldnt take it (being stupid like I am) and went along to the next session and got turned away. My blood group is Rhesus O negative and they were always asking me to make sure I attended before the op. Felt really gutted, but do understand.

I can't give blood, because I lived in the African bush for a few years, got loads of tropical diseases and had lots of local girlfriends (ah, happy days :-)).
Well that's me excuse and it's got NOTHING to do with being afraid of BIG needles...
Nurse, keep that away from me... NURSE!!

Wot's Beliz? I never caught anything dodgy because I arrived with a suitcase full of condoms (Remember: safe sex kidz). However, when word got around the village, I had a queue of people outside my hut wanting the things.

They certainly did and they need them out there. Why else does it get dark at 6:30pm every night?
Anyway, I managed to avoid most of the nasty diseases like hepatits (your poo goes white), dysentery (you wee blood out of your bottom) and, my personal favourite, tropical sprue (characterised by - I kid you not - yellow greasy stools and explosive bowel movements!). What a bummer that would be eh?
