Might be a little bit of an odd thing to be proud about, but im so pleased, Maddie my ex racer doesnt eat treats, the only things she eats are apples and carrots, and spillers meadow herb treats, ive been trying to get her to eat more things, she so hard to keep weight on and when i got her she wouldnt eat anything, only chaff. The other day she took a polo from me and ate it, and this morning took an extra strong mint and ate it ;D ;D im so pleased with her, it was our 2 year anniversary on the 28th, 2 years on and shes starting to behave like a normal horse ;D ;D ;D

The other day she took a polo from me and ate it, and this morning took an extra strong mint and ate it ;D ;D im so pleased with her, You might not be SO pleased when she gets addicted to the things and starts mugging you for them! ;D I've got a few who'll turn you upside down and shake you if they think you've got Extra Strong mints in your pockets (it's my wretched husband's fault - the ONLY thing he does around the stables is walk around saying 'who's this - does it DO mints?' and then ensures that yes, they DO mints! But mints are very handy for fussy eaters - once she gets the taste for them (and believe me, she will!) you can crush a packet and then mix a handful of broken bits through her food.

my other 5 love mints, and will quite happily mug you for them ;D Shes actually starting to turn into a real horse now, she actually eats things, but it still slightly neurotic and obsessed with her stable

Desperado, I think you can buy one of the Dengie chops that has mint herbs added - wonder if she'd like that??

Aww bless her, our ex-racer was very much like that 5 yrs ago, he would only eat nuts or chaff, wouldn't touch any treats whatsoever, he just didn't seem to understand them..... He also didn't really know what 'turnout' was and would walk out the gate and then turn round and stand there all day !
But now he eats anything you offer him and loves to share bananas, digestives and yakult yoghurt for breakfast. He loves his turnout and has only been in nights since xmas eve as the fields are mud baths and he likes his extra large haynet !

Yay Maddie, it's soo nice when they don't turn there nose up at what you are giving them, My horse is the same she only likes the meadow herb treat things and fruit and veg. But she HATES mints...don't think she'll ever eat them!
