Just had a wonderful morning at the yard, it might be only Xmas Eve but it felt like Xmas Day. The yard owners had laid on mulled wine for everyone and a lucky dip bran tub so that all the liveries (and their families) got a present. They were lovely presents too!
The yard manager was cantering around on a purple hobby horse which someone had given her as a secret santa and there was a really festive atmosphere.
The best bit of all was seeing a teenage girl get a pony for Xmas. The girl is a friend of another girl who has a pony. For as long as the girl and the pony have been at the yard her friend has come up every day to help look after the pony and they take it in turns to ride it. A month ago the YM took a pony to sell on commission and she let this girl ride him so that she could hack out with her friend. The girl fell in love with this pony and begged her parents to buy him for her. They fobbed her off with excuses but unknown to her they bought her the pony.
Ths morning when her parents brought her to the yard she found the pony all plaited up with tinsel with a big bow around his neck and a card from her parents telling her that he was now her pony.
She was so thrilled that she burst into tears and didn't know who to hug first - her pony or her parents. Everyone cheered and there wasn't a dry eye on the yard.
It was a brilliant start to Xmas!
