Hi guys just wanted to clarify a few things as the AHS were meant to send through documentation about the benefits of becoming a member but instead just sent through the membership form well I plan to show sparks hopefully as a yearling at AHS affiliated shows so i guess i have to become a member but i've never done affiliated showing so i have no idea what it entails. the AHS website is pretty useless IMO now it's changed so was wondering if any members on here could give me some idea?

As long as Sparks is himself, registered with the AHS, he can be shown in affiliated classes at any show EXCEPT AHS shows themselves. ie Area shows, Northern Arab Show, Nat champs. unless you REALLY want to go to THOSE particular shows, it's not worth being a member.

i do think the membership is pretty steep for what you get, the magazine is ok , and you don't have to pay to get into the national show. You shouldn't need to be a member to go to the area shows just the nationals and the british championships. If you are breeding, you must be a member to register the foals.

If you intend to register a horse in your name you need to be a member. To get 2 magazines a year, you have to be a member. To go to a minority of C shows, you have to be a member. Other than that, there is no gain I can think of. Oh, you get free entry to Malvern, but still cheaper to pay the £8 a day entrance otherwise!
Oh, and if you join midyear, your membership still runs out in the January!! If you do join, make sure its in Jan!

The rules must have recently changed then------I last reg a PB 3 years ago, and of course the reg costs more than being a member, but no where near as much-as the sub every year----if you understand what I mean, I stopped joining years ago, cosI'm just about bankrupt in Jan with all the subs I pay

thanks guys, Kooky - i don't have to be a member to register him as he's PBA and not full Arab.
SS3 - i did want to do the South-East AHS show in the Spring really just to get as much experience before th summer season starts as possible but i'm open to advice on which shows to consider going to and which to forego as i have absolutely no idea :-)
