The other week the family all want to a local show. Whilst I found my spot and settled to watch the showing, the kids ambled off to the stalls. An hour later they both came back with fish that they had won. I thought this was illegal. I was less than happy that an 8yr old girl and a 12yr old boy could be handed live fish in bags without an adult in sight. I couldnt take the fish back because the kids would be upset so ended up buying a tank and accessories. Needless to say the fish died, children upset. Just think using fish like this is irresponsable and cruel

Totally agree with you on this one Meg. Did you go to the stall and have a word with them? Think I would have. Dont know if it is illegal though.

I remember winning these as a kid, with my parents, but i didnt think it was done any more?? I woldnt advocate it, surely it is better to win a teddy or toy?? not a live animal! especially with no parents present! as Gwen says i dont know if it is illegal though...??

i went to a show not long ago, and my sister (10years old) had a go at some fair thingy, and come back to us with a tiny goldfish that had been pinned up in the sun all day. poor thing, sorry but i hate things like that. I knew it would die, they always seem to, my lil sis felt goo tho because she gave it a chance hehe bless her.

I thought this was not allowed any more. I remember my children winning some fish. We kept them in a tank for a bit and then they dug out a pond in the garden and put them in there. Amazingly they lived for quite a long time and grew quite well.

Oh I really ummd an arrd about going back to the stall and giving a piece of my mind. But I didnt. lAthough Im going to find out from the council what their policy is. I personally think its cruel to have the fish there hanging up in the sun all day. Giving them to children without a responsible adult around is plain stupid. But Im sure this kind of thing was banned years back. I must be wrong.

I thought it was illegal too. But there are always loopholes . . . .
