its GCSE results day. last year my son managed 3 grade c and 1 grade B, the others were grade D or E. not bad. the got E in English so retook. sadly he didnt get the C hewas looking for only a grade D but at least thats an improvement. hes disapointed. he has done a 1 yr course in IT at college but didnt like it so failed that exam. he simply didnt know what sort of job to do. after speaking to careers people hes going to do a bricklaying course. i hope this worksout for him. hes only 17 and its so difficult having to decide what to for life! my horrid horrid sister has just rung to see what grades hes got. for some reason she thinks hes really academic and is GLOATING about a friends lad whoes done very very badly in his AS levels. 1. my sons grades are nothing to do with her 2. what a bloody horrid person she is! I simply told her her friends son has been pushed by his mum and cant do the work. maybe a modern apprentiship would be a good idea/ Bloody woman, i cant stand it. shes a mean minded useless nobody. my neices are both teachers so she thinks anyone who cant get a degreee is no good. i wish i'd realy told her what i think of her, especially as my son isnt degree material anyway. BUt we are going to let her go on thinking my son is doing very academic stuff, let her keep spouting and one day she'll fall flat on her face when he comes out with, " well i cant do thosae things either!".

Hi Amma... Sod her. She sounds rather rediculous if I'm honest. I left school at 15,, with ok GCSE's I then qualified as a Welder Fabricator and Aluminothermic Welder (to weld railway lines together!) I left this job after a works accident to become a Driving Instructor which I do part time, along with an office job which I do 3 x days a week, If I can fit it in with the DG! I earn twice what my friends earn who studied for absolute yrs to get a dead end job. As long as your son has his head screwed on he will excel in any direction he wants; good luck to him x x

Also, I've worked in the trades & contracting industry, and I don't know where in the country you are, but here (and in many parts of the country) men on the tools (tradesmen) are in short supply, and earning VERY decent money.
A good brickie can earn quite a bit. If he follows that course, and does well, at 25 he'll probably be earning more than all his mates, including those with degrees!
Try not to let your sisters words get to you. Life is too short to spend it with negative people.

I really wouldnt waste time energy or emotions on considering her. As Varkie says Life is Too Short.........be glad that you're not bitter and twisted like her. If she hasnt anything better to do than worry about some poor "friend" who's son hasnt got staright As she must have a very sad life. Maybe suggest she give some of her spare time to volunteering rather than gossping and running people down

Just remember - its great to have teachers in the world but where would we be if people like your son were not around providing somewhere for us to live??!! Good for him finding something he wants to do, all the best to you and him.

It,s not what you have got in this life, but what you make of it. I think so much is made of these exams these days, half of them should not even be taken. You make of this life what you want. Regardless of any results, someone somewhere will see this persons other qualities other than what is written down on a piece of paper....
