Oh no, will they let you pay in installments? My vets are brilliant about things like that, they know i'll pay eventually. I hope she'll be OK, cats really are tough little animals. Ellis got run over last October and although he's never going to be 100% he's coping really well. Not sure I am as he's incontinent! Fingers crossed for her, at least you know what happened to her and whatever happens now she's safe.

Ask them about installments - I think our vet bill was about £350 just for Elby being in intensive care for 5 days - they didn't actually have to do any operations or anything.
I really hope you can sort something out - it is a big sum of money to find out of the blue.
Let us know how you get on.
(Karon - Glad to hear Ellis is coping well - I remember reading about his accident on the DG last year.)

Try contacting your local Cat Protection league too. They are often much more helpful than the RSPCA. Hope your little cat is feeling better.
Great to see th picture of Elby Sara K!

Also, you could try smaller cat charities - even if they can just help out with small amounts it all helps. Mind you I don't think my local CP is that keen on me - not only have I been known to take the odd kitten round to them that has just been dumped on me, but they agreed to help with Baldrick's bill when he had his eye removed - not expecting an operation (neither was I - I thought it would just be antibiotics!) - ouch. Ellis is not only coping, he's thriving He eats more than the rest of our cats put together and is still tiny! Good luck, I'm sure your vet will help you sort some payment method out.

Hi Kerrylee, what would your vet say if you said you couldn't afford it? would they help or not? Perhaps it would be possible to get some editorial in your local paper to ask for donations. It's amazing what people will support, especially animals! Thinking of youx

That's good news, anyway. Glad she's home again, I bet she'll improve once she's back on familiar ground.

Glad to hear your cat is home and safe. Don't worry to much about the bill, I'm sure they'll let you pay by installments. Atleast your willing to pay it.

Sorry to hear about your cat.
Not wishing to upset you but please note that purring does not necessarily indicate that cat is happy. They also tend to do it when in extreme pain. Just letting you know in case you have to make a hard decision and make the wrong one because you believe that as your cat is purring it is ok. It may be just the opposite.
Hope she gets better. Know what you mean about vets bills, just spent several hundred on tests for Mathew Kinsy (my old cat). I now know lots of things that are not wrong with him! More tests!...

Just to agree with what vbm has said above, my old stray Black cat was knocked over a while back, we spent £900 on operations etc, she had a ruptured spleen, broken leg and other stuff, we had to keep her in a cage for about 6 weeks to allow the leg to heal, about a month after this she was back up and about again, however she bagan to lose weight, i had the vet out and he disgnosed liver damage, she was purring a lot and i thought this meant she was contented but the vet informed me that cats will do this when in pain and stressed, we had to make the hard decision to have her put to sleep, hopefully this will not be the case with your cat and i wish you both all the best
