Our youngest boxer (4yrs)is driving me mad, everytime he sees a bee he tries to catch it!! He has already been stung on a couple of occasions but just doesnt learn. He goes after wasps too. The other one has been stung once when he tried it and now ignores both bees and wasps cause he knows they hurt!! Is youngest boxer really stupid, or does he fancy himself as a bit of a jackass?

My terrier does it too, sometimes looks like he has been in the boxing ring!
He has learnt to snap at them really quick, which he seems to think lessens his chances of being stung!

MY JRT's think they are fair game - we have a nest under a bit of concrete and they spend hours watching and waiting ;-)

Don't you think that terriers think anything that moves is fair game? I know mine does.
He is great for catching flies too, but sadly also frogs, birds and just anything that moves

Thistle! thats really unfair, its like saying all rottweilers are vicious! The eldest boxer isnt stupid at all, he thinks things though, I think the younger one comes from a shallower gene pool, or maybe he just gets a buzz out of it.

Sharon - my three love catching anything - I often find frogs in their beds that they are playing with . They also adore snails - have great fun trying to get them out of their shells delicately - slugs are yummy too but usually result in being sick later !

one of my labs must have done this and got stung on her mouth. I came down for breakfast one morning to find vomit all over the kitchen (more than I could imagine a dog could have produced!) and Hazel (choc lab) with an incredibly swollen head, her ears, chops, eyes, everything was really swollen, it was awful. I had to go to work so my Dad took her straight off to the vet who gave her several injections and told us to keep her quiet for the day, and thankfully by evening she was 80% back to normal, and competely back to normal in about 2 days. It was extremely scary, thank god it hadn't affected her beathing or I might have come down to a deceased doggie. She has learnt her lesson now and is very wary of any buzzy insects!

kerrylee, what a sweetie your mums boxer is! Our eldest one looks alot like him/her but has a completely black face.
I wish I could post some piccies of ours but I have neither the knowledge or equipment to do it, if I ever get it though I will put some piccies on tho.
victoriaa yes we had that happen with the eldest boxer too, felt so sorry for him he looked hideously disfigured, my yougest daughter screamed every time she looked at him, vet soon sorted it tho, he hasnt touched a wasp or bee since. Youngest boxer just seems to get localised swelling, hasnt needed to go to the vet so maybe thats what he needs to put him off - a visit to the vet!!!
