last friday my friends 13 yr old daughter had a go-karting accident, she hit some tyres at full speed and hit her stomach on the steering wheel. they couldn,t scan her because of the swelling until yesterday, they have now found that she has pushed her pancreas into her spine and there is a split in one of her veterbrae she has been moved to st james in leeds and is going for surgery today. please be careful when taking children to go-karting tracks there was no seatbelts provided, and she was on holiday with family friends, fingers crossed she will be fine

Thinking of her.
Go karts have never had seatbelts - certainly not the competition ones or ones at any of the kart cicuits we visit. I think the idea is that you are thrown free in an accident which sadly didn't happen in this case.

i have just been updated by my freinds other daughter, she has not gone down for surgery as they now suspect she has internal bleeding and more organ damage she has had a tube put down to have a look and a tube inserted to drain blood, she will be in hospital for at least 6 weeks. We have offered help with lifts to the hospital as she is at st james leeds and my friend has only driven around our village, offered to do shopping and help with the horses and fingers crossed things will get better. The poor girl has to lay flat as as soon as she sits up she starts swelling
