Subject : NH - What's the strangest thing your child has said/done?

Just sitting here at work discussing our childrens personalities and things our children have said over the years. I remembered my son, when he was 3. He was playing in his bedroom with a friend. At that time we live in a flat, two floors up. I passed by the bedroom and saw his friend playing on the floor, but no sign of my son. I poked my head around the door. He wasn't there. Frantically I said to his little friend "Where's Jay?". He pointed to the window and said "Out there". I looked out of the window and there was my son, hanging onto the window ledge. I grabbed his arms and pulled him in, which wasn't easy as I almost froze with fear. When I put him down on the floor I shouted "What were you doing out there? What were you thinking?" to which he replied "I just wanted to know what it felt like to be really scared". He's been a thrill seaker ever since.
Did you child ever say or do something as a tot that gave an early indication of their lifestyle? (even if you didn't realise it at the time)

My daughter loves nature and animals and I can always remember her at about two years old shouting "mummy there's a woot! a woot!" very excited and tugging at my clothing, turned out to be a newt hiding under a rock; another time she shouted "Look at the Mama's" - turned out to be Llamas!
She still loves looking around for creatures!

I have no kids as yet but my eldest neice was out on her bike even though she knew the brakes had failed. She didn't think twice about trashing down a steep hill into a wall, flying over the handle bars and smashing her face against the floor. Concrete floor, may i add! You could see the bone in her chin. Luckily she didn't have to have it wired and it healed really well.
She's 9 now and laughs about how her chin stopped her by thudding along the floor!
Not long after this she climbed on top of the shed in the garden and then jumped off, breaking her ankle... I get the blame for all this as she's a tom boy like me!

No children but can give you the story my parents tell everyone about me there are two
1) a dead lamb was on my god mothers muck heap, I found it bought it into the house and asked for a blanket as the lamb was very cold.
2) I was rushed to a & E after trying to prise my eyeball out at the age of 5, when my mother in horro asked what I was doing I told her I wanted to see what was behind it

That made me laugh as I was rushed to A&E after sticking a monkey pea up my nose! They never did get it out... that could be a viable excuse for lack of brain power some days!!! LOL
I told my Mum it was the Mpea's fault as I was playing with it and it rolled up, I asked it to unroll and shook it around a bit, but it didn't comply, so up it went!!
I was just three mind ;-P

Looking back I was destined to be a vet, sadly boys proved too interesting and I didnt want the 4 years of study

Strangest thing my child (well a bit older than a child by then) was "can I jump the Pre Novice track?"!!!!
She was a very nervous jumper at the time....and, yes, she did it!!

My daughter then aged 5, told me, when she got older, she'd put me in a home so she could look after her brother and dad herself! She's only 7 now, and I'm not looking forward to older age!!
Also when I was little I was always bringing dead things home. One winter I found a robin dead in the garden, put it in my duffel coat pocket, trying to warm it back to life. It was in there for over a week before my mum found it!

my son once tried to ai the cat after watching his dad and the vet with the cows,he put on the long plastic gloves, lifted the cats tail and said come on then squeak lets look at your bum,luckily i stopped him in time and couldnt stop laughing he was 3 or 4 at the time.

I dont have kids but one thing i did when younger really sticks out. went swimming with my dad and i was still using armbands. dad left me in the shallow end while he went for a quick swim, I decided if i got out, put my armbands on my feet and jumped back in i would be able to stand on top of the water - genius!
well i got as far as jumping in then just remember being upside down with feet in the air and rest of me underwater thinking 'that didn't quite go to plan'. fortunately some kind man saw me do it and picked me up out of the water by my ankles then shouted at my dad when he came back!

When I was little my grandparents had a shop. One day a lady came in with an awful lot of facial hair. Apparently I climber up to the top of the step ladder, looked across the counter at her and said "You look like Father Christmas". I was whisked away by a firm arm but have never been allowed to forget this.

I remember something I did as a child which will always stand out in my mind as the dumbest thing I have ever done.
I once saw someone stick wires in the socket and put a plug on top of it so they can use two electrical goods at once, (maybe extention leads hadn't been invented then) well my mother caught me and went daft. A little while later I wanted to use my hairdryer and someone had swiped the plug so I decided to do the wire thing one more time. Mother was fast asleep so I thought I was safe. I stuck in the wires and plug to hold them and was drying away when I heard someone coming down the stairs, I pulled out the plug quickly and there were bits or wire sticking out of the socket........ yes I did!!! so I grabbed them with my bare fingers so my mother didn't see them and give me a row. All I remember is shooting backwards accross the kitchen and hitting the door and sliding down it into a snotty heap.
I always have spare plugs in my house now.

I take great comfort from that as I really thought it made perfect sense at the time and was mightly put out when i found myself upside down!

I once tried to have a shave with my dads razor and nearly chopped half my upper lip off ,it really hurt and bled for ages , and everyone laughed instead of giving me sympathy ( I'm a girl by the way !)

When I was very young I did say the funniest things so my mum tells me :-
Things I have said :-
I once saw a coloured guy, he was soooo dark and I'd never seen one before. HIs name was Mustapha, but I couldn't pronounce it so he told me to call him "Toffee" (don't spring it on me that I'm racist now !). Anyway this guy loved to drink endless cups of coffee. I told Toffee with all sincerity that "I knew why he was so dark, he drank too much coffee"
Another incident, (which embaressed my parents lol) was when I was about 4 or5, my parents were camping in Italy by the beach. There was a old guy walking along the seafront, minus a leg. I went up to him, walked round him, clearly looking for his missing leg. I couldn't understand where it was, and my parents had to drag me awy apologising profusely to the old guy lol
Another time, my parents sent me to my room, and told me not to come down till I'd grown up. Many hours later, Mum came to check up on me, as I'd still not come down. I was sat on my bed, sobbing my eyes out, and I said "I've been here for hours and I've not grown one bit !" Bless I took things literally (and still do at times lol)

I am proud mum of a 6 yr old gal and 10 yr old boy.
My boy started asking THOSE questions, you know the ones...they make most parents squirm. Anyhow we were talking about differences between girls and women and boys and men.
I thought I was being very clear and explaining well about such differences.
My son came out with "I know all about women"
"really" I replied "whats that"
He replied with an angelic look on his face "well I know what women do in the bathtub with vegetables".
SHOCK HORROR...did not know how to handle this one..hubby ran away.
calmly i asked him what he meant.
he replied "well...they put cucumbers on their eyes"
Me and hubby fell about in hysterics...serves us right i suppose for our dirty minds.

To be honest L.A i cant really remember as it happened very quickly. think I most probably tipped forwards as I certainly didn't take a flying leap off the side into the pool (as I didn't want to upset my balance - LOL) so if had gone backwards would probably have hit head on side of pool - may have knocked some sense into me though!
I think my main aim was to walk the width of the pool on the water!
