Hi, I'm Jane / Purple Hugs
I've been riding since August, but had a month off with a non-horsey knee injury (fell up the stairs..).
Am at the comfortably confident trot (rising and slightly bouncy sitting) and walk. Happy trotting poles and doing other bits n' bobs. Still to canter (although RS horse tried to give me an early lesson a few weeks back).
I ride a couple of RS horses regular now, but have riden about 8 different ones before them.
Favourites are Bertie 'I love cantering and soooo want to canter with you! ' a 16.3hh big boy, he's really forward going and loves dressage so bends beautifully.
And Kappa 'I don't want to trot for long' 15.3 or so hh. She's great when you get her attention and hold it, so trotting poles she's a dream.
And I am starting a share/help out arrangement at a RS 11 miles away - they rescue and re-train horses so has a lot to offer a newbie such as myself in experience. I'm off for my first real hands on visit tomorrow. There are two horses for share, haven't arranged which one will be mine yet. Charlie (i'm calling him cheeky charlie) as he nibbles and tugs on your clothes he's 15.3hh although says 16hh on his paperwork and Chunky who is 17.3hh... yep step ladder required! hehe Hope to ride them both tomorrow.. to see how they go and who I bond with the most!
Oh and I'm a mum to Erin (6) nervous rider, and wife to Graham non-rider and foster carer to many.. ! Ok.. I've gone on long enough!

Thanks everyone for the welcome! ooh now that sounds a great canter attempting time to me! I am now beginning to watch people cantering and envying them! I help on a yard / RS and am going twice this week so am hoping to convince them to teach me to canter! then when I do it in my lessons they'll be impressed! A lot of my lessons is learning to 'ride' the horse, as the two I ride regularly are soooo different in their styles. I trotted poles really well first time and my RI was really surprised, so was I mind you! lol

Thanks Sophie, your pictures are amazing, I love otto! I went to the yard again today and got a ride on a horse called paddy, he's about 15hh and a light tan colour (sorry breeds i'm not up on yet). He's not a palamino but not far off it in looks. He's a bit of a naughty boy when tacking up (well bridle only really) and mounting.. he moves away as you get to the side of him! Got a helping hand mounting but was well away then, he's a love to ride. Can't wait to go again on Friday. how do you like fostering? you foster as much as your mum and dad you know! as you share your home, family, friends etc! My daughter loves to think of herself as a foster carer.
