I'm guessing by now everyone has heard there are reported cases of Strangles on the South common in Lincoln in the Lincs Echo a couple of nights ago, 3 horses infected. I've also heard unconfirmed talk that it might be in other sites so please be careful.

Caythorpe is a nice venue, they've had a big new surface put down and dressage always runs to time!
Gizzypop, Riseholme have it as well. One of our yards at Bransby was closed for a couple of months as we had a couple of cases, but we got the all clear at the weekend so we are ok now. Probably a good job neddy is lame, don't want to be mixing with others with all these diseases about!

Update, update! Riseholme don't have it, our Welfare Manager has just spoken to them, they have just closed the yard as a precaution.

No, scares me too. I was so cautious about changing my clothes from work before going to see my horse when we had strangles at Bransby, and I work in the office! Would have felt absolutely awful if I'd brought it onto our yard and made my horse, or someone else's, ill. So glad we have rid of it, but quite worried about it being on the common - how the heck to you isolate the horses there?! There's dozens of dog walkers on there every day, what if they stroke an infected horse and then go and stroke a non-infected horse somewhere else without disinfecting themselves - argh!!!

just wanted to say ...a massive thankyou to everyone for letting me know about the strangles ...turns out alot of ppl in and around Lincoln did'nt know about it ....so by spreding the word i hope we can prevent any of our own horses getting it !! I have no idea how they are going to get it off the commen horses ,but it does not bare thinking about !! So so many ppl walk on there with dogs etc.....seams for an out break to have occured in such a widely used public area the coverage has been very limited Take care every one and stay healthy !! Helen x

I think it was in the Echo, but if you are like me and don't read it, you won't have heard! I found out from YO and through work.

Hi, i'm near Newark.
I was just wondering if any of you are going to Debbie Glennan (RA) and Ruth Fisher's clinic on the 26th of Feb. For those of you that don't know about it details are on the Demos page on here. They are normally really good days!
