Hello everyone, I am new to this discussion site. I live in Kent and share a beautiful bay Quarter horse. I am also part of a not for profit organisation called the 'Dartmoor Pony Rescue Centre', we take on Dartmoor foals that are not sold at the sales each year - usually the future for these foals isnt very bright. They are approx 4-7 months old and very scared as they have been parted from thier mothers. We are aiming to get the foals used to positive human contact and handling and eventually broken to ride. If you are interested in learning more please look at our website www.dprc.org.uk.

Hi Kate - sounds similar to the Exmoor scheme that the Moorland Mousie Trust run. I would love to do something like this but don't have the space for another.

Hello all, I am pleased to announce we now have four Dartmoor colts, called Basil, Reggie, Star and Socks. (pictures to be uploaded onto the website very soon) They have settled into their new home well over the weekend and are bonding with another herd. If anyone is based in the Dartmoor area is interested in gaining experience working with untouched ponies, getting them used to human contact etc , please do contact me. www.dprc.org.uk

Hello again, just wanted to let you all know that we are now running a sponsorship scheme too. This will be either on a monthly or yearly basis. This pays for the essentials such as feed, grazing, vets bills etc. In return we are able to send you an information pack about the foal and update you with its progress. Also you are able to visit the foal on open days and pre arrange visit days. For more info please look at www.dprc.org.uk All the boys are doing really well and are very playful and inquizitive. We hope to have them halter trained shortly. Any advice, tips or past experiences working with foals at 6months +, I would love to hear!!
